Bypass Valve w/ Restriction 1.5mm

Hi all,

I had a 300sd which needed to have a pump bypass valve spring replaced
(Injection pump bypass valve spring)

Now I have a 1991 350SD with what sounds like a similar problem.

I've confirmed this is the part in question, but I can't find a part #:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4Po1DKzyL6VYVF4QmNnS2c0UDA

Anyone have any ideas? It's part #15 on 07.1-010.pdf fuel injection pump.

If non replaceable, anyone know if it is possible to tap out old valve and spring and press in new one?

Thanks much!!

Jack

call a Bosch certified fuel shop. They are around $40.

If you can find one online, it is about $30. They are available, and not serviceable. Have you read your links?

I've spoken with 3 different shops about this, and you could use one from any om60x or even om61x (if it fits the banjo thickness) since the pressure is not an accurate calibration - "just around one bar" they all seem to say.

The new, non-serviceable ones are a better design (to me). The smaller orifice provides the volume control and the valve parts serve as a check valve instead of spring pressure providing all functions.

Hi - thanks for the tips!

I did read through the links and wasn't clear if I could use the older design or how to get replacements.

I'll try a spare I have for my 300sd. Everything seems to fit.

Would have been nice had they combined the 2 designs- Make it serviceable and separate the functions.

If he has no Hand Primer on His Engine He needs to replace the Fuel Pressure Relief/Overflow Valve from one of the Engines that also does not have the Hand Primer. The reason is that on the Engines that came with no Hand Primer the Fuel Pressure Relief/Overflow Valve is setup with an Air Bleed.

The 617 Valve may Fit and it may work untill Air gets trapped inside of the Fuel Injection pump Housing. With No hand Primer and a 617 Fuel Pressure Relief/Overflow Valve before He cranks the Engine He would need to loosen the Fuel Pressure Relief/Overflow Valve crank the Engine and allow the Air to get out. Tighten it up and try to start.
