Opinions appreciated

Finished an 3.5L to 3.0L engine swap on this W140. Since then, I've seen one color cars (especially black) that in my opinion look better than the two tone. On the W126's I don't care for the single color approach, as they have more chrome, and seem to appear better with the color contrast. But, for whatever reason, I'm leaning toward going all black with this car.

Thoughts? (Also, I'm not at all a purist when it comes to something like a W140 or later. At that point, those cars started to blend in just a bit with the rest of the vehicle population)

Here's the car.

Thoughts

Congrats on the swap, is there a post about it?

Turning to the question at hand.....you were thinking about painting the moldings on your car to achieve the desired one color?

Sure, I think it would look good. As is, the bottom makes the car look "plasticy".

Personally I like the two tone paint on these cars but if you are going to paint it all one color then black is a nice choice.

Exactly, paint the lower cladding to match the car.

As far as the swap...

I've posted a few threads around this and some previous swaps.

I think it would look good all black as well. It is true, in my opinion, about later model cars blending in with the populous. I think the W140 is the newest MB I would consider owning. I personally do not like any models with the plastic, round headlights; I find that style to be hideous and more so once the lenses fade.

Later 140s would have been mono-tone, personally I prefer them to be a single color. On my 92 124 I did a 95 front end swap and painted the car one color. I think it made the car look a little more modern.

I say go all black.
