cruise repair by JamesDean: A+

Just reinstalled my cruise amp and actuator after service by forum member JamesDean. The transaction was easy and the work high quality.

I highly recommended his services if your cruise isn't functioning. Don't know why I waited so long to do the repair!

That's on my list of things to do in my signature car. That and an over aggressive column lock are the only things wrong with it.

He did mine as well just in time for my upcoming roadtrip and it has been working great!

I need to send mine to him, sick of messing with it.....now if he could magically install one in my euro :(

Good to know. If I could only keep my speedometer needles from bouncing under certain conditions...

Great service, great guy!! His repair of my Cruise amp has made my life worth living again!! :D (there's only a little bit of exaggeration in that sentence as I use the cruise more than any other person I know)

.. Couple of cruise amps sitting around here as spares... May or may not require service but maybe worth a quick try as swap inreplacement trial.

Or jamesdean can have 'em for free 'cept the shipping to fiddle with.

Just trying to keep schtuff from going to the crusher soon.

Great service, he repaired my amp maybe over 2 years ago, and its still working great! I highly recommend his service.

I'm glad I was able to help everyone and that I can give back to the community that's helped me so much over this (almost) past decade.

I'm also really pleased to hear my first customer's amp (79Mercy) is still alive and kicking! That's really cool!

Anything is possible! I've got amps and actuators and an extra 617 bracket. You'd need the harness, stalk and sensor from a donor car..that and some elbow grease should get it installed. If you ever go to do it, let me know I'll do what I can to help out.

If you want send me a list of what you've got. I can tell what what amp is applicable to what. Always happy to take in some more cores too!

Sweet will most likely take you up on that! When I go on my trip in a few weeks, I was thinking of grabbing the harness and everything off a car in the JY....Another thing in my future, is to install an ac system in the car too...

James was outstanding with his work and speed of service.

He went above and beyond when my amp R&R project did not go as expected.

When it was all done, the CC works as it should.

Antenna up!

You may have a ignition tumbler which is just about to fail, or a column lock just about to fail. In either case, I'd recommend you fix it now. If you can turn the key, you can replace either or both without too much drama. Once either component totally fails, the drama and cost of repair go up dramatically.

Or maybe a bad key. I found that one of my keys is pretty worn and causes column lock issues too. I was randomly using two keys until I noticed it was really only one key causing the issue. Glad I have a new master to make copies from.

I'm aware of the perils associated with this. The tumbler works fine, it's the lock that is stiff once it's engaged. I've gotten into the habit of removing the key with the wheel turned 90* off center. Since I'm the only driver, it hasn't been a problem.
