w140 300SD Fuel Rack Sensor Plug

The time has come to overhaul the fuel management wiring harness on my '92 300SD. I've looked at what's required and it seems pretty simple.
The Fuel Rack Sensor plug is under the intake manifold and I don't want to take the intake manifold off if I don't have to. I can't see how the plug comes off as it seems to have a lever on it that is meant to be pushed or pulled but doesn't give when pushed or pulled.
Do I have to take the IM off or can I get the plug off as is? How does it come off?

Thanks, ARW
