DC Area Members..

Any dieselers in driving distance from the greater DC area plan on attending the Deutsche Marque Concours at Nottoway park in Vienna, VA on May 5? It's usually a pretty neat even, if a little small. There used to be a few neat diesels, including a *gorgeous* silver 300TDT with euro headlights and a meticulous engine compartment..

More information available at: http://www.gws-mbca.org/

Hope to see some of you there. Could even turn it in to a local diesel meet if we want.

Reed,

I don't drive a diesel but I definitely will be at the Deutsche Marque Concours. A fun time and great cars (BMW, Porsche and, of course, Mercedes). Last year was the first year at Nottoway, and I hope that the event will draw more participants this year.

See you May 4.

Oops. Sunday May 5.

Will be there...

in fact, let's try and see if we can whip up an impromptu diesel meet...I was going to take my restored VW convertible, however.

I don't own a Diesel but I'll probably be there with 'Miss Daisy', my 1960 220S Finnie.
Maybe they'll even let me park next to the 'pretty' ones.

Happy Motoring, Mark

Would love to meet Miss Daisy...

in fact, last year's event seemed to lack "diversity"...there were some "heavy" older cars, surprisingly, a lot of new or nearly-new, but little in between...which I find the most interesting area.

I'd love to meet Miss Daisy, as well as Ron's E320 and anything else that people bring out. I just said diesels because, heck, that's what I have, and 'cause I posted this on the diesel board. How about a great meeting of ShopForum folks?

Agree with JimB+ - last year's did lack some diversity.. The BMW corral was far more interesting than the MB corral last year, but then I'm always going to be a sucker for a pristine '85 745i. That really is one of the Uber German bahnstormers from the 70's-80's.

Anyway, look forward to seeing all you guys down there, and hopefully the weather will cool off by then. (90 degrees and humid tomorrow! What month IS this:confused: ??

I used to go to the German Marque Show when it was at Woodlawn Plantation, about 2 miles from my house. I even 'entered', unofficialy, my 1957 DKW Coupe. John Bleimaier, the Mid-Atlantic region V.P. of the Mercedes Club, graciously let me park it next to the judging field. (DKW/AutoUnion WAS part of Daimler Benz from 1957 to 1965.)
I'm afraid my old 'Deek' isn't up to a jaunt on Rt. 66, but it's no problem for 'Miss Daisy'.
I tried to get three of us in the DKW club to, officially, enter last year and found out the German Marque Show was gone.
(I hope I wasn't the reason the show got moved!)

Hope to see you on May 5th, Happy Motoring,
Mark

DC fun

If I can get out of this #@(*!$ golf shop on that Sunday I will be there!

Jim B+ 04-16-2002 04:20 PM

Uh, it seems to be May SIX...

according to the local Mercedes club website (gws-mbca.org). There's also a bit more information on the event, directions, etc.

Hope a lot of the dieselers who were planning to get together in Baltimore a few months back will be able to stop by!

junkyard

do any of you guys know of any junkyards in our area?

Mark DiSilvestro 04-16-2002 11:26 PM

I've used Potomac German Auto, on Rt. 85 just south of Frederick Md. for exclusively Mercedes salvage parts.
Many of the ones around the Beltway are part of the Brandywine network. In Virginia, I've used AAAACO-Brandywine, on Rt.1, south of Ft. Belvoir, just before the I95/Woodbridge exit.

Happy Motoring, Mark
