DEPO euro style headlights

So as not to highjack Benzasaurus' thread I thought I'd start a new on with the headlight discussion.

Here's the DEPO web site with the info on the lights they make for the W123. They make headlights, front corner lamps, and tail lights (sedan only). I don't know how the part number indicate if they have the vacuum pods or not...but this is all they make.

I ordered a set from Ebay vendor in the Bay Area, no trouble at all with shipping or handling. Decent seller, though the bulbs they send you are useless for the cornering lamps (they are clear, which I probably won't use anyways, but they send them with clear bulbs...duh).

Depo

W123 Depo lights don't have vacuum pods.

W124 depos do, and I seem to recall w126 ones do as well.

From the website I posted all of the 440-1101 part numbers are headlights. Some of them probably include the vacuum pods, otherwise why would there be so many choices?

Well, I thought it was pertinent information, but now see how it is better to pull it off and then she can decide to come over here and get the part number.

So I looked at the PDF (http://www.depo.com.tw/asp/pdf/R_M_BZ_4.pdf) and then found this image on the link below:
OE:440-1101-LD-M,4401101LDM BEPO,440-1101-LD-M,4401101LDM,DEPO , Make:MERCEDES-BENZ(BENZ); Parts:Head Lights ( Head lamp )
Looks to me it has a vacuum pod. Only issue is don't find anything for sale with that number...

The reason I was interested a while ago is mine seem to be pointed too low and couldn't seem to adjust them higher. Now that I have lost $500 (guessing) I am just going to put washers under the lower bolts and call it good. Live and learn!

Hopefully though this information will be useful to someone else.

Were the euros, you installed hooked up the vacuum adjust control? Its possible it was connected wrong to the control, believe it or not.....I have also seen people install the lights upside down..

On the Bosch ones at least, if you apply vacuum to the pods, the light beams point UP.

Releasing vacuum allows the beam to drop down.

If the vacuum pods are hooked up (correctly) to the correct switch (2 types for W123, and 2 more for SLS equipped), adjusting the headlight aim must be done with the engine running and switch at "0".

My 123's did not have vac pods, nor adjusters. Had to use the previously mentioned washer method.

The ones I have don't have vacuum adjustment. The plastic adjusters are very terrible about adjusting. I love to find a right Bosch so I could run them again, but VERY hard to find, especially since all three had broken glass in transit.
