I'll upload an engine shot and a dash shot and console shot... A real cremepuff here.

I've asked tor an additional 50 or so angles, to get an idea if it's ever had salt exposure... Typical white spots on the intake has me cautious...

Seller is asking $10K, so it deserves a real thorough inspection... I'm afraid to advise the guy one way or the other without hands on look...

If it's essentially perfect, I don't think the price is out of line. Perhaps a bit on the high side.

What's the guy going to do with it?

If he plans to drive it, he's going to lose the premium he paid for it.
If he's going to save it, why?

For 10K, you're knocking on low end of the CDI range.
After owning a 87 300TD for 13 years, and a CDI for less than one year, I know which one I'd choose.

I think the reason people would pay that kind of money is a nostalgic commitment to the W124. But I agree completely that, for that money, a CDI with 175k miles would be the smarter choice for most people.

There are a lot of nice 98 and 99 W210 E300DTs out there with twice to 3 times the mileage and 3/4 to 2/3 of the asking price. Early to mid 2000s with CDI are around the asking price.

I would not want to spend that much on that model knowing what I know will need to be done to it. I don't care if it has only 63k miles, the rubber parts in the front and back are likely shot from age and that is $$$$ and a lot of time. Been there done that big time.

I told the guy your story on your wagon, and explained it's gravity and time that kills most rubber parts...

Have him bring it by for that inspection then. I'd love to see the pics with eyes-on, and hands-on inspection summary.

Agree. Especially if you want OR need newer, and once sorted, dependable transportation.

I'm advising him to offer 6 for it, due to the need of the car, the age of the car and it's depreciation. Unless I get some AMAZING pics...

I would LOVE to have it, but I'm realistic... She's gonna scoff at the offer, and put it on eBay...

If she sends me all the angles I have asked for, I'll post them here.

Makes sense. If I were buying it, $6K beats $8K and $10K. Selling? $10K - firm!
