Searching EPC Without Part Number
So I am looking for the screw that secures the wire terminal to the horn for electrical contact. For aircooled Volkswagens, there is different sections and in the sections assembly diagrams with call numbers. Therefore, one only needs to know roughly what they are looking for and then are given a part number. However, it appears for Mercedes, one must know the part number before finding it! I have done several searches for information, but not finding it. I thought I was told I didn't need a part number, so hopefully I am wrong as usual.
F.Y.I., appears the EPC has been updated as was able to use 64 bit Windows 8 and Mozilla to create an account and load the program. This makes me very happy to finally have access after over a year of waiting! :D Thank you all in advance! :D |
You can browse/search without part numbers.
Once you have the EPC program opening, begin by clicking "Assortment Class" and selecting "Car": http://i.imgur.com/wt0kKUE.jpg Then click "Model Designation" and look for your model, in this case a 123.193 aka 300TD: http://i.imgur.com/cWPzEIE.jpg Then under Market, select the appropriate one. If your wagon is a Euro import, select Euro, otherwise North American. http://i.imgur.com/LvgmM8n.jpg Then select the group, in this case Electrical and Instruments: http://i.imgur.com/xBV6JMB.jpg Then select the subgroup, in this case Horn: http://i.imgur.com/Xm4axlr.jpg Now you will get a diagram, select the parts you need and it will show you the part numbers. I selected the screw, and lock washer, that connects the wires to the horn: http://i.imgur.com/tYi4nYu.jpg Note that you can usually drop the leading letter on the part number. Just use the number. |

This was it! M4x0.7 16mm long. I could swear it was smaller than that... I also found that you can search for model, click on a part number, and then you can change the group. However, now thanks to you I have instructions for future reference! :D It is folks like you that keep me coming here to the Peach! :D |
