Don't want to hijack my own thread, However, does anyone have any experience with Mercedes Motoring?

Also, much appreciate all thoughts on this car, keep them coming.
Agree would not buy this car until I actually see it, want I really need to know is if it is truly worth seeing, all input appreciated. If you guys see anything that does not ring true in your experience happy to hear it an save myself a trip.

$2500? Complete junker wagons are going for $2500 these days because people want to get in on a wagon. That's a bit unreasonable.

And sometimes people detail cars for sale because they want them to look good.

Sounds and looks like a car that has undergone a thorough cleanup and mechanical restoration. Unlike some, I don't think this is inherently a bad thing. It just depends on the buyer. That tick list you provided is much of the stuff we all end up doing within the first few years of owning one of these old cars. If they can provided receipts for the parts they listed, that's great. It just means you won't have to deal with it. If you are looking for a nice wagon you can get in and drive for a while without having to do much if any work it will probably serve you well. You have to remember that most people here are, instead, looking for bargain basement prices on something they can fix up themselves. Different market entirely, and not who this seller is looking for.

Mercedes Motoring is a well known company. They take cars that are already in pretty nice shape and bring them back up to snuff, basically. They then ask top dollar. But I've never heard anything bad about the results of their work.

I think you could get them that way from the factory....though it is unusual and probably very very rare.

Guys,

Thanks for all the input.

Seller is reputable. He is asking 36K. Seller believes he has deep market for the car, that if I don't like it he can sell it to someone else in an eye blink. With that in mind the car comes with contract that seller will repurchase car from me at any time in first 3 months for 31K.

What do you think? Should I go take a look?

wow.

they are known for their abilities to bring a car up to spec, but that's a LOT to spend on a wagon.

I would budget 15K and find one for 5K, and spend 10K getting it up to that condition... better yet, find one in similar condition, and buy it for 8-9K, and be thrilled with the savings...

I feel confident if you bring me a 5-7K car that's rust free and running well, I can bring it to this condition in 6 months for under 10K

this is likely how the car you are bidding on started out.

Raleigh is a great place to get a car from, from the rust standpoint...

Mercedes 300td diesel wagon blown head gasket-great project car

this one is newer, in CA, could likely be had for less than 1000, and needs head/headgasket...
