Minor oil leak at the Oil Canister connection

Hello to the group. '82 240D.

I have a slow oil leaking coming at the location where the oil cooler canister nut connection attaches itself to the oil canninster; not where the cooler nut attaches to the canister nut. The exact location I've highlighted on the attached picture. Is there a crush washer under this nut or an oring? What size for either?

Thanks

Herb

I think that is threaded with tapered threads... And it's aluminum threaded into aluminum... Are you SURE it's leaking there?

I'm fairly certain. I just got through overhauling this engine and traced the minor oil leak to this connection. I'll double check by cleaning it up again but I'm very sure that I tightened the oil cooler nut fairly tight to the cannister nut.

If it is a tapered connection, there isn't any more room to tighten it to bring it in further.

The part of the Fittings that screw into the Oil Filter Housing do not have tapered threads. There is a Crush Washer to seal them.

You will need to thin the head of a Wrench in order to get between the Oil Filter Housing and the Oil Cooler Line Nut.

If yo don't want to deal with the Crus Washer perhaps Blue Loctitewould keep it from moving.

The Oil Cooler Hose side is of the Fitting nas an internal tapered; sort of an inverted cone.
Some of the Aftermarket Oil Cooler Hoses have had problems sealing on the internal Taper due to some dimensional issue.
