Anyone in Austin or Nearby?
Hey,
I recently moved to Austin, TX. Before I left, I brought my W126 300SD to my mechanic to get the A/C switched over to R-12 freon - he was kind enough to do it even though he normally doesn't work with R-12. I had previously replaced the evaporator, expansion valve and drier myself, so I wanted to have a strong A/C system after all that work - and R-134 simply wasn't cutting it. Unfortunately, I think I just lost my compressor...it's clacking and the air conditioning has stopped blowing the ice cold air it was just a week ago. The compressor is about 13 years old - so it's not unexpected that the compressor is shot. I doubt any shops are going to want to mess with R-12 around here. Is there anyone in the Austin area who would be interested in getting together to help me replace the compressor, and who has the equipment to collect the gas that is currently in the system? I wouldn't mind a Saturday or Sunday trip to a nearby city if anyone else in the TX area is interested in lending a hand. Thanks! Justin
