Cool AC Hoses on 87 300 SDL, Is there an easier fix?

The hose "set" attached to the compressor is leaking. A new assembly from dealer is $1100.00 . Trying to find the right fittings to make my own set is not easy. If anyone knows an easy way out, let me know. Otherwise some trial and error is inevitable.

I installed the w124/om603 version of this part on my car a year ago when the old on started leaking. Still holds pressure without issue. It was a pain to install. Be prepared to pull the clutch fan and radiator.

In the above URL you'll have to replace ******** with ROCK AUTO. Pelican doesn't carry the part.

You should be able to find a local a/c or hose rebuilding shop that can use your existing fittings and crimp new hose on it. It usually costs $30- $40 per run of hose. No sense in overpaying for a whole assembly. I got all mine rebuilt...

The whole new assembling is $51 in the link I posted. There was 1 available then and 0 now so I'm guessing the OP already bought the part.

Unfortunately someone else got there first. Now there are none. I did not know you could put on new crimps where one already existed. I'll see if I can get that done. I will also contact Rollguy if all else fails. In any event thanks for the advice. I'll put in a final word once I do something, may be a while.

The hoses where they attach to the fittings. Do they look like a wrench can go on them (hex shape)? If they are you can "unscrew" them, sort of like a compression fitting for tubing. I will try to find some pics and post later.
