Help ID-ing Nardi wheel hub adapter

I happen to have the steering wheel off my w123 300td right now so I dug out an old Nardi steering wheel hub adaptor I found in my storage recently to double-check it fits. No luck.

Turns out this adapter is much narrower than the w123. I have attached a pic of the w123 steering hub and the mystery Nardi adaptor to its left.

Can anyone suggest what it's for? Nardi never stamps any numbers on their products, so once you lose the original box you are in the dark.

I have had Nardi wheels on w116 and w123 models at one time or another, and I thought they took the same adapter (in other words, same spline diameter).

I did have a w111 for a while, that I ended up selling, and I am wondering if this is something I had bought for that car?

I would be surprised if it will fit any Mercedes benz. I believe you will find all those models you have listed take the same size spline on the steering wheels.

I have a Nardi wheel myself (which is planned for the 39 Stude) and have bought an adapter for it that will require redrilling for the bolts that hold the nardi on the adapter as one is six and the other nine hole. If you need an adapter I can look to see what brand it is etc.

I don't know what year you're trying this on, but there is no adapter which will work on mid-late 84 or 85 W123s. Don't know what changed, but I spent three years trying to find an adapter for my 84 300D. Many adapters were touted as fitting, but none did.

I was aware of the problem on '85s (I have one) but was not aware 84s were also affected.

What you see in the pic is the hub of my 1980 300td.
