1981 240D motor mounts question

Hi, and thanks in advance.

In searching the forums, general consensus is Lemforder and/or Phoenix brand is the way to go , I get that.

But, when searching ebay, etc. the ones that come up , part # 1232413013, say NOT COMPATIBLE with the 240d, lists all others, 300d , etc.

Advice for finding Lemforder/Phoenix mounts appreciated.

thanks,

Don't believe the hype. those mounts will work just fine on the 616.

Second that.

The mounts for all diesel W123 cars are the same design. The difference is shore hardness of the rubber.

The presumption is that they were different due to different strengths needed for the different engines.

I believe the best bet is to simply purchase the turbo mounts. They work great on my non turbo 300D.

Might be a slightly different layout but the holes line up somehow.

The ONLY difference that I have noted (and have the mounts side by side to compare, all factory parts) the 240D mounts says "S4" on it, the 5 cylinder mounts say "S11" I believe the rubber hardness. I have not ever found anyone selling the S4 version to date. Will it matter-not likely. Having new mounts is better then not!

If it's anything like the flex discs, in which there is a similar design for all W123's but different strengths, I think it's fair to assume until proven otherwise that the 300D turbo mounts are the strongest and the mounts for the 240D are the least strong of the set.

So I think it's also fair to assume that while it is OK to go "backwards" with these mounts (i.e. install 300D turbo mounts on a 240D) you may not want to go the other way (i.e. install 240D mounts on a turbo).
