Wastegate Oil Leak
The wastegate on the Garrett turbo on my '85 300TD is by far my worst offender in the oil leak department. It is dripping all over the motor mount and generally making a mess. Is this normal? Is there a way to correct it? I have a Euro turbo set up, so the blow by from the valve cover goes through a hose to the u shaped pipe between the air cleaner and the turbo instead of an oil separator. Presumably oil from the blowby just feeds into the turbo. I had this exact same set up on my last car, but no oil leak from the wastgate that I can remember. The rubber hose is in good condition and the oil seems to be coming from the snap ring groove. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks Shane

are you sure it's not the oil return at the bottom of the turbo running down onto the wastegate? the only way oil could actually be leaking from the wastegate is if the blow by vapors are making their way through the "sense" hose from the side of the compressor housing and puddling up in the wastegate actuator and leaking out of that. the wastegate actuator has a cap with the hose connected to it that can be removed for adjustment. here is how you remove it: Garrett Turbo Wastegate Adjustment - Mercedes-Benz Forum
you may want to check if that is seated properly and inspect for oil build up in there. a bit of oil is normal but it shouldn't be full of it. how much blow by does your engine have?
