From what I can tell from different part numbers for the radiator, and the photos available, they are not the same radiator. The gas version has the inlet and outlet on one side and the diesel version has them on opposite corners.
I'm guessing, with this information, they probably are not compatable.

|
the diesel engine is very long and its radiator shroud is shorter and also offset to one side. The 99 E320 came with electric fan and has a very different shroud which holds the fan itself.
The 1998 E320 came with clutched fan but its shroud is very very deep like an old Ford truck. You cannot use the gas engine shroud on the diesel because it wont fit.
