dirty fuel hoses?

What does it mean that the clear hoses from the fuel filter block to the IP and other components aren't clear (does that make sense?)? Should I expect the hoses to clear up after a dose of Diesel Purge?

Supposedly those lines go from translucent to opaque as they age and apparently can get brittle and break. Maybe it would be a good idea to replace them as a preventive measure. I'd do it myself but I hate doing things related to the fuel system. Too messy.

I was told by my MB guy to replace the once clear fuel line that runs from the IP to the fuel filter so any small air bubbles can be seen. He uses clear line from the locel hardware store and that is what I did on 3 cars. It was cheap and seems to work fine.

Or, as I posted a month or two ago, you can get brand new MB lines from the dealer for about $10 each, complete with the metal banjo fittings etc, rather than mess around with cutting off the old line & using non-fuel-rated tube from the hardware store. I replaced them on my car when I replaced the cylinder head. All three were $20 total from online sources.

Sixto,

The lines are probably stained by the Diesel fuel. I had some glass jars with Diesel fuel in them and they were stained just like the lines. I wouldn't bother replacing them.

I agree with PE. Unless they are broken or leaking leave them alone. New ones would be the same color in a couple months. I
