Question Should I Get It

I have been a passive member of this forum for a while and truly
it is a great site. I have not had to post a thread so far as I find
all my questions by doing a search and I find all the answers.

Yesterday I looked at an 85 300SD with 173K miles on it one family owned ( Passed on to son from father) it is in great shape
and I think I can have it for $4500.

The car is silver in color with brown leather interior has had the
front suspension bushings replaced recently and records upto
150K miles.

If I do get the above car based on the forum feedback, I will be selling my 85 300D with 223K miles on it. It is geen in color with
brown leather interior and the smoothest shifting 300D I have
ever driven. I have had the car for about a year and bought it
of a gentelman who had form day 1 till I got it. I would like to
sell it to someone on the forum if possible as I would then know
it found a good home. I live in the DFW area.

Your comments are appriciated.

Bill,

I looked for the Airbag due to comments you had made on a provious thread. It did not have an airbag but did have ABS.
The MFG data on the 300SD is 03/85 and on my 300D 01/85

Thanks
Venkat

Dieseldaddy,

Take a look at the car and then we can work out
the details. Anything for a Diesel fan.

Got any pics Venkat?

Greetings All,

Sounds like a nice addition to the family, Love my '84 model, seems to handle somewhat better than the 123 series I use to own, personal opinion I suppose. The interior seems to be a somewhat easier design to maintain as well with the harder vinyl door pieces. If you got pics of this new toy please post for all to drowl over.

Charles

Bill, the van sale's going slow...mainly 'cause, with school and whatnot, I haven't taken a steam-cleaner to it (actually, I plan to do that today)...so there's only a few Internet ads out, but after it gets steam-cleaned I'm gonna put signs in the windows...hopefully things'll speed up after that. And I'm like you in that (with the exception of engines with a GM badge on the shell) I havne't met a diesel I didn't like...even the SD-33T that cracked a piston on me a few years back...

Venkat, the price sounds good! I'm definitely interested...do you have any pics of the '85? I'm a full-time college student, so going out to Dallas isn't really feasible...but with some good pictures and a good description of it's condition overall, I think that shipping it here would be doable... If you want, you can E-mail me; my address is warden145@earthlink.net

Thanks in advance! Now it's time to clean the van out...

Bill,

I have a question for you. On the 300D I can tell when
the turbo kicks in at about 2500 RPM as there is sudden surge in
power. On the 300SD I do not feel this kick in the back although I
feel the the car is performing per specification. The only difference
between the cars is that the ALDA has been tweaked on in the
300SD and not so in the 300D, would this be the difference.

Thanks
Venkat
