auto zone 12.99 mobil1 is RED!!!

WTF????? POUR SEEMED NORMAL but RED???

That's weird....all the gallons of stuff I've opened have been normal color.

It sounds to me as you've gotten a hold of a bad batch, or mislabeled Mobil 1 there. It wouldn't be the first time. Not so sure I'd use it.

That's what I'm worried about... TWO bottles were red... opened first one and freaked... opened second one. And thought it might be an age or heat thing... it's been in my in non-conditioned shop on the shelf since I got it... auto zone thought they would swap any bottles that were red...

Oil pressure is normal... just a hair below 3 bar at hot idle...

today I poured some 5w30 mobile1 into the wife's Honda from my local Napa-sweet honey coloured goodness, but @ something like twice the price.

I do know that some variation in oil color from batch to batch is perfectly normal. But red sounds outside the pale.

I am told that Royal Purple is, in fact, purple when you pour it but whatever is used to produce that colour goes away in a few hundred miles.

Mobil One grease is red, isn't it? Maybe they are adopting it as a brand identifier?

I went to auto zone and showed the manager. They opened a new bottle off the shelf... yellow oil .
