The problem is Nucleate Boiling, not a specific temperature.

Let me explain; the problem with the traditional water/coolant mix is that you cannot properly do away with nucleate boiling.

The traditional 50/50 mix cannot keep an engine cool enough to do away with this, pressurized or not. In every engine, diesel or otherwise, there are hot spots in the water jacket where the coolant will boil instead of remaining a liquid. In these spots, air is created, which is a much less efficient coolant that any liquid might be. Once this begins to happen, if you get the engine much hotter, pre-ignition and detonation are not far away. IIRC, pressurized 50/50 boils at about 235? With Evans, these hot spots are kept cool and therefore there is no nucleate boiling since it boils at something like 365?

Your efficiency Rises the hotter you can get your engine Safely. Preigntion/detonation are the enemy, not a specific temperature.

'As case in point, conversion of a Chevrolet LS-1 engine from No-Rosion and water to Evans Waterless Coolant resulted in an increase of 128oF at the cylinder heads. We saw a stabilized bulk coolant temperature of 192oF with water and No-Rosion, and 236oF with the Evans product. So the temperature increased by 44oF after converting to the Evans product.

By having engine cylinder head temperatures 128oF hotter with the Evans product, a number of performance setbacks were observed: (1) the octane requirement was increased by 5-7 numbers, (2) the computerized ignition system retarded timing by 8-10o to avoid trace knock, (3) horsepower was correspondingly reduced by 4-5%, as confirmed on a chassis dyno."

The above was quoted from the link you offered; They are doing this on an LS1, without reprogramming. The ECM is toning everything down because it thinks something is wrong; the increased temperatures are outside what the ECM will allow.

I had an '83 GTI on the road with this stuff for about 3.5 years. Max advance on the JH (8.5 to 1) engine was 36*. With Evans, I could advance it to 52* w/o Any ping. And it was a blast to drive, I would consistently kill any similarly tuned car due to Evans. No dyno was used, so take this experience as you will.

The hotter you can safely make a motor, the more power you will make. Gas engines arent very efficient, a Lot of calorific energy is lost due to heat. If you are able to safely raise the temp of the motor, you will get more of that energy out of the fuel used.

Nucelate boiling is related to surface tension, as is cavitation: when I open a water pump and find the involute blasted away, I know the engine was run with pure water. Another vulnerable spot is the thermostat bypass, which is usually at the junction between the hottest water and the lowest pressure in the system.

A 5050 mix will improve the surface tension of water, which is a reason why it's better than water alone. I'm not familiar with No-Roison, but from the description, it must be a surfactant (which reduces surface tension) with an SCA charge. You can buy similar products off the shelf, Water Wetter is the most common, and Royal Purple also makes a similar additive. When mixed with pure water, they are very effective. But they don't provide freeze protection. You can also add them at half the rate to 5050, and get some improved performance along with the usual benefits of antifreeze.
