Unhappy Axel replacement 85sd

Ups just delivered my axels from Car Parts and they don't look like the one on my Benz.
They are FEQ brand:chinese and have a flat end instead of 2cans like what's on my car now. I am afraid to cut the zip tie to look in and see if there is spindle that will attach to my wheel.
I know there is 1 bolt that goes through the rotor I have replaced both rotors a few years ago.
So has anyone used these before on a 85sd??:confused the part # are the same for Parts Geek, APW
Please help

They ought to at least look like the Picture in the Ad at the site you bought them from.

I don't think any of the Aftermarket Axles are problem free except the OEM GKN Axles that are $400+ each and I have never looked up ones for an SD.

The Axle they show at the Site W0133-1800029 is an Annular Axle and does not come with the Splined shaft on the end.

If the Original Axles have a Can on each end the Splined shaft at the Differential is made as part of the Axle.

So it looks to me like it is not going to work unless you have a set of Flanges with the Splined Shaft on them and want to change.

If I ever by any aftermarked Rear Axles I am going to get them from someplace local like Autozone or NAPA and so on so that if I have any warranty Issue I can deal direct with a Person. That gets a faster exchange and avoids the argument over who is going to pay the shipping to ship the item back to get the Warranty and who is going to pay shipping of the exchange Item back to me.

I will call the company tomorrow to see about return, Car Parts didn't show the flange kit at all. However Parts Geek showed them with the same axel further down the page,@$370 right plus $390 for left. Advance has several but they are not guaranteed to look like the picture, and they don't carry the side seals either.
My Benz is daily driver and I can't take off and lay on the counter and wait 3-4 days.

So I looked on line and now I can see that was a mistake. AZ doesn't show them either.
I will call NAPA and see what they got, for web site doesn't show anything .

Thank you for your help!!
John

The generic online parts vendors (carparts.com, geek, etc.) are a hit and miss proposition on a lot of stuff for these cars. Lots of folks here have reported problems.

There is a specialized search engine called everythingbenz.com where you can search for info or parts. The parts search isn't perfect but it's a decent help and will usually show a series of vendors and prices.

I had a similar situation with A U T O H A U Z A Z. Picture looked like mine, but what I got was different and would not fit. I was lucky and recevied a 100% refund after a little sniveling. I ended up going the route that Diesel911 suggested: Autozone, new, with a lifetime warranty. So far, so good. If I have an issue, there's two AZs within 15 minutes of my house. Or try John a/k/a VSTECH. One of the best guys on the forum and tops on rebooting axles !

This seems like a good place to put a note.....
that OIL... of some viscosity ... is used in those joints with the boots....
because if a stiff grease it used... they just Sling it out onto the boot and it is not able to continue to lubricate the joint.... per the FSM of course..

Thanks Guys for your comments and suggestions. I called Car Parts and they will do full refund. I just have to wait for email packing slip and off they go.

I called AZ and they don't carry the 126 rear axels... I like to get them local but Napa, Orieley, AZ, Car Q, nothing.
Maybe I will go with the Great recommendations for either Colo or John.

The car just turned 296,000 yesterday and the axels are clunking pretty good, the boots are intact but have the fine age cracks. the clunking has been going on the past year, you know clkunk here clunk there but now pretty steady.
I would like to do a drop replacement but it seems I have run into a wall here, except for your Experience & Options which I appreciate very much.

If any one used AZ and has a part # for the 300SD I would appreciate it very much. I am also going to try everythingbenz website.
Thanks

Would you happen to have that part # for the 300SD?

I don't know if this would be useful to know or not. But, you could get one of those cheap Syringes with Needle that they use to Inject Flavors in Meat and fill it (likely several times) with Differential Oil and stick the Needle through the Rubber Boot and fill the CV Joints with the Differential Oil.

Degrease the Area and put a dab of Silicone Sealant over the Needle Hole.

Take it out for a drive and see if the clunking has gone. If the Clunking goes away you might consider re-booting the Axles you have.

You could do the same thing with Grease if you have a Grease Gun as they sell Needles that attach to the end of a Grease Gun. However, on the Car I think Greas is not going to easly make it all the way back into the Axle (you might need to drive some and re-do it several times). But, it may work well enough for test purposes.

That is a "GREAT IDEA"
I have also contacted the CVJ and John.

John thanks for PM and I like your offer I think I will try test run first.

I knew I should have posted here first before I jumped into the crazy world of online shopping.
If I can reboot what kits do you guys recommend?

I have read some pretty bad reports of cheap boots.

You guys are right vestech has a Great Option that I may use just for time sake and that they be done right.

Please let me know what you think.
