Bodywork chapters in the FSM
G'day Folks,
I'm sure I had them somewhere. I thought they were on one of my back ups disk drives. But I can't find them now. I'm looking for the W123 bodywork repair chapters - I don't think they are on either the English version CD FSM or the German one. They might be in WIS... ...ug. To help with my search does anyone have 1) The comprehensive list of all of the chapters in the FSM (including the chapters missing such as chapter 27 transmission - and the bodywork one etc)? OR 2) The chapter number (it is probably a higher number than chapter 86) for bodywork repairs? This information will help me sift through all of the PDFs on my backup disks so hopefully I can find what I need again. There was for example a chapter on sill replacement (that I'm busy with at the moment) and removal of the rear wings and the back panel of the boot / trunk... ...any help will be much appreciated.

I have the English 123 volume 2 version with the body work sections in hard copy (paper). It is very nice and quite detailed. It may take me a while, but I can scan it and pdf it if you don't find it otherwise.

I was posting the bodywork part of my S-10 rebuild but no one seemed interested so I haven't updated. If you have an interest I'll post more pics and text as I go along.
Fortunately, I don't have any rust in the truck so I won't be posting pics/text on that but I have been pulling dents, filling the antenna hole, etc. which will be followed by a complete repaint. Body work is body work - doesn't matter if it's a Mercedes or a Yugo. Besides, the technology keeps marching on and the info in the FSM will be out of date. Still, it will be useful to see how the panels fit together, especially where there are multiple layers like in the sill area. I'm guessing that the FSM will show that. Have Fun! (I enjoy body work) Dan |

I was thinking I'd check in the FSM before I pull the sills off. I can see how they are attached but the jacking points are in an awkward position - I was thinking perhaps the FSM has a few tips. My progress is here => http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/body-repair/303669-my-w123-saloon-sedan-old-accident-repair-bit-rust-repair-thread-10.html

Nasty job. Since moving to the Southern US I have vowed to never again do that kind of rust repair though I did plenty of it when I lived in Michigan (that's a heavy salt use area). Around here, rust-free sheet metal is not hard to find so why bother? The 240D that I scrapped was WAY better than the car you're working on but no one wanted it so off it went to Pick'n'Pull (I bought it for the manual trans, which is in the S-10 along with the shifter). It was crushed long ago.

Found it!
I can't find the chapter on the sills but I found the other bits I remembered. They were in the German FSM after all.
This is the chassis repair section

Bedankt - Bijna - Ik ben op zoek naar de hoofdstuk voor het vervangen van dorpels. Dat heb ik nog niet gevonden. Het lijkt mij mogelijk dat Mercedes heeft iets over de krijksteunen te zeggen!
