So you no longer have any drive line drone in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gears after changing fuel filters???? Please explain.

The motor would drone before the filter change, but now the motor does not. Also, far less accelerator is needed to hold speed. I can now drive in 4th at 30 mph, and hold speed, or accelerate easily.

I used to have an 87 190D 2.5 with a manual conversion.

Same thing, drone around 1700-1800 rpm, did it in 3rd and 4th.


I tried everything, even added the special harmonic damper at the front flex disk. Also did the engine and tranny mounts, even swapped out the exhaust, and differential. Nothing I changed made any difference.

Selling the car made a difference......
