On W123s and other early cars, the bearings get disturbed when changing rotors. If they are not reset properly or dirt gets in, then problems can start.

The OP has a W210, so should not have that problem.

Changing rotors on a w210 is a snap. My w210 has done 220k km, no problem with bearings yet.

My W123 has done 420k km and has had one front bearing change since new (bearing failed).
72 R107 at 156k miles is most likely on original bearings (but not 100% sure).
