1992 MB 300D Cruise Amp Connector

Does anyone have a schematic or picture of the connector?

When replacing the Cruise Amp on my 124 series 92 300D, fella pulled the top cover off the connector and connectors came out. Had a 124 series 300TD, but the wires are not the same, especially the grounds.

Before I put a good amplifier in, I want the color wires back in the correct socket.

Thanks

Sorry for not saying thanks earlier. Was out of town working, blah, blah, blah

I have a 124 300TDT harness (junk car), and will fix the pins IAW with the color recipe provided and use that as a template.

I am only a couple of wires off (grounds in wrong location). I did not ruin an amp by using it.

really appreciate the help.

Need New List or 92 300D

Let's try this again. I have several Mercedes, and this list below matches my 87 300TDT wagon. I pulled and checked it, actually cut the harness, its a junker. I have attatched pictures of my 300D, and of course the wires are not in the right socket. Notice, I only have one Brown wire, which I remember was in # 14, but there are two brown wires to the same pin. Additionally, I have an extra green wire, which in this pic is in #12.

I have only used the old amp, which was failing, but worked. Nothing. I have good Amplifiers, but won't install until the wires are right.

I need a list for 1992 and related years 300D 2.5 5 cylinder turbo diesel, 124 series. Key to the list is one Brown wire (2 wires on one pin).

The info I used to write the list was from the FSM. It only shows one page for Diesel engines, applicable from 1986 up. There are a couple gas diagrams from the early 124s and one set for the 500E which was their first attempt at drive by wire before they started using it in the 140s and 210s.

According to the diagram there are 2 grounds on 12 (to W1 and the actuator feedback pot low side). The only green wire that should be there is pin 4, column switch accel. Your picture shows a green on 4.

Can you post a nice, clear, use the macro function on your camera , picture looking straight into the connector, maybe we can figure it out from there.

Wayne,
This is the colors for my 91 300D which should be the same as your 92.
It is like the last one you posted except I added that pin 12 has 2 wires and
Pin 11 is the vehicle speed sensor.

1 bk/rd/vi power fuse 5
2 yl/gn column sw decel
3 gy column sw enable (opens for cancel)
4 gn column sw accel
5 wt actuator clutch coil output and K12/1 relay terminal 5 via X81/1
6 bu/rd column sw resume
7 bk actuator servo
8 bk/rd/wt brake pedal sw and actuator clutch coil return
9 vi feedback pot high side
10 bu actuator servo
11 gn/yl Vehicle speed input
12 br ground to W1 and feedback pot low side 2 wires
13 yl feedback pot wiper
14 br ground to W1

I hope this helps

It should also be noted that if you use the latest part number amplifier specified for your car which is 023 545 21 32. That you will need to remove the ground at pin 14.

I believe this is also true for the 016 part number unit as well.

The 005 just needs a ground at pin 12. It will not care if you leave the pin 14 ground in or out.

Also if you have not secured a replacement cruise amplifier for your car, I might be able to help. I've been repairing them for about 3 years now with great success. I sell them considerably cheaper than aftermarket repaired options. If you are interested, just let me know!

Looks like Two Wires need moved - RIGHT?

Paul,
This makes sense, the green yellow speed sensor, I should move from 12 to 11. Jaybob below says the one Brown wire goes in 12. Will try that.

JayBob – from what you are saying, I need to move BROWN ground from 14 to 12, move green yellow from 12 to 11. I took many photos, and the one I posted is the best I can do. I reduced the size to 30% to post.

Amplifiers

Kris,
THANKS.
I have 2 good amplifiers. But I have multiple 124 MBs.

I am just about finished with this car. When I get cruise fixed on it, I believe I am going to sell it. I have more cars than I can drive. This was my road car. Its a young 300D, with only 221K, new transmission, new dark blue paint, great tan interior, southern car with zero corrosion. I need to pull the dash cover, replace lamps on climate control, and a few other small things and it goes on eBay or Craigslist.
I am also going to sell very reasonably a 85 300SD, while high mile, this tank is rust free. I need to scale down, too many vehicles. Plus I have projects in my shop I want on the road, much more fun than these old Mercedes. Eight registered cars and even more trucks (farm and business) is too many.
