$31,000 for a 1982 300TD?

Sorry if this car has been mentioned before but I just noticed the ended listing: Mercedes Benz 300 Series W123 | eBay Are all the bidders above the guy with the $6,767 bid on crack? And what is the seller smoking that makes him think it's a $31K car?

It's 20k now but who knows what kind of scheme is the seller running.

I'd ask all the guys around here (the newbies) who say TDs are worth 30K every day and that they can get that for their 5/10 TD "creampuff" (creampuff are their words, not mine).

No way is it worth the 30K, the sellers are usually meth heads anyway.

*edit* noticed it's a mercedesmotoring car. Their restorations are subpar anyway and are overhype.

JG Francis at Mercedes Motoring used to have the selling price of his cars listed on the website. Now, assuming you can trust that info, I recall virtually all of them selling for $20K-$30K. So regardless of your opinions of his work, the market definitely values the product he is selling.

My 1987 300TD wagon was sold and my 2003 W210 E320 wagon was totaled (sheds tear).

Pics look nicer than what I've seen in person. It would be nice to have a finished car that only needed maintenance.

Beautiful car. Hopefully it finds a home with a connoisseur, someone with a passion for these cars who can take proper care of it.

Some interesting modifications to this car. It looks like the power mirror switch has a aux in for the radio which looks like an older Becker than should be in this car. I think most of the cars he sells are going back to Europe.

I agree... the radio seems to be out of an older model, I don't think the mexico was still in use in 82... not the steely/hubbies either...

Some people invest a whole lot of money and time repairing and modifying vechiles perhaps this guy just wants to break even when he calculates everything. In the end it's just a car to everyone else except the owner. Often one can purchase a built up car at a fraction of the price it costs to do the build especially if it is not a highly collectible vechile. It takes a whole lot of know how to actually make money on a car. Perhaps he is realizing this by lowering his asking price but he still has a lot of lowering to do in my opinion.

You're right. Interestingly these guys had a rusty Gwagen a few years ago that they were supposedly going to restore. After a few weeks every trace of the vehicle was gone, wonder why

This is a recent shot from his shop. I have been there personally, and can attest that the pictures online do not do them justice.

I'm actually curious as to why the OP would think the price it to high? The fully restored interior alone is 5-6k. Take any one of those cars, and bring it to any meet alongside most of ours, and which car do you think is the one most people are going to go goo goo over? If I had the ability, my car would be there tomorrow getting his treatment.

Well, I like old cars as much as anybody, but JC you can get a E63 or a Bluetec for less coin than that car. And should you ever have an accident that would total it, your insurance agent won't stop laughing when you say you want a $31,000 check.
