Turbo will be an aftermarket with a standard pressure controlled gate. I do have a very nice HKS wastegate I might use.

The whole intercooler situation has been a source of frustration for a while. Ive wanted one on the car no matter what engine I use but as us W124 owners know, the options are few and far. Im not willing to give up my A/C, this is my DD and it gets way to hot here in the summer. So the more I think about it, i'm warming up to the idea of an Air-to-Water intercooler. I need to go stare at the car for a while to figure out how to package it.
You're on the right track. One thing that occurred to me is to use the space under the back seat for a radiator/fan combo, mounted horizontally. If you look under the car, there's a pretty large hollow under the back seats and it may be possible to stick the radiator there.

Add a rock/skid guard and it should work pretty well.

Actually thats about exactly what I was thinking! All my stock exhaust is gone too so I have free'd up some space. Room up front is a premium, even for a little radiator for intercooler water. I was thinking underneath with some fans and running aluminum tubing back to it for a tad more cooling. I'll tig weld up a little expansion tank and mount it in the trunk. I have a couple w124 parts cars at my disposal to which i'm thinking of robbing the auxiliary water pumps from to move the water with. I figure on dual pumps because of the length of the plumbing. I think this could work pretty slick!

Skippy~ As for perception: Drive what you like and can afford. Those who don't like it can supply vacuum to one of your components. LOL

If you need parts, I have some!

You can get a 9" tall A/A intercooler in the front without too much trouble.

I was able to rework it later and get it tucked about 2" more backwards at the top and looks much better. Still kinda hacky but am going to carve my own spoiler like these guys:

There are a variety videos based around this similar concept. The one I like the best is where you cover the front bumper down with saran wrap (packaging wide stuff) and then foam over it. Carve that down and then saran wrap the carving from the top of the bumper down. Split the two pieces and the outer one is now your mold.
