Anyone need trunk CD changer?

Part number 002 820 7989. Came with my 99 E300. Before I throw it away, thought I'd see if anyone has any use for it.

Hey I still have my CD changer in my 98. It actually has CDs in it, and I do play it from time to time when I get sick of what is on the radio.

If I can figure out how to convert the CD changer into an Aux-in then my changer would probably go in the box in the closet with the factory analog cell phone transceiver. I kept the handset installed, passengers get a good laugh when I show it to them.

I have a Parrot Bluetooth installed but it is only connected to the two little speakers in the dash that were meant for the factory cell phone. Great for spoken word podcasts or audio books, but not for music. Although those speakers are about the size of the ones for the 1st gen 124...and the Parrot amp is about as strong as the Becker 780's. If I can figure out how to connect the Parrot's line-out to the CD changer audio-in on the Becker then I can play music via the Parrot from my phone.

It's not as simple as finding the right two wires. There is also a digital control interchange between the Becker and the CD changer that must be satisfied or else the radio will not switch the input to CD mode.

There is an article in the Wiki for just this purpose but I can not find that adapter box for the life of me anywhere.

You'd need the radio too right?

Yes. I have two of those as well. Maybe I should just put up in For Sale section. Didn't know if folks have a need....perhaps in the interests of "authenticity."

Will it fit in a 123?

Yes the standard radio from the 96-98 W210s (Becker 1692) will drop right into a later (1980? +) 123 dash since the 123 and 210 both have a singe-DIN opening. Got to love the Germans and their standardization.

However the 1692's internal amplifier is not a power amp, it is a preamp that is matched to the Bose amp and speakers.

The Bose speakers are tuned to the interior of the W210 and would be difficult to fit into a 123. I believe they are not standard 4 or 8 ohm speakers like normal speakers.

The wiring connections on the back of the 1692 are the newer style ISO connectors and would require serious rewiring to be used in a 123.

You would need the Bose amp, the special speakers, mounting hardware, wiring harness, CD changer and its cable, and probably more things that I can't think of now.

Not worth it in my book.
