I'm curious, how much vinegar to you use? Diluted or straight vinegar? Acetic acid should work very well to remove the rust if its left to sit for a period of time.

I wish someone would clue my in as to what this Distilled water conversation is ABOUT...

Once you mix the water with 50 percent antifreeze... what does anyone think will be the difference ?

and I still say.... like Vstech mentioned about the physically active bubbles used by some shop ... or the rooter method I mentioned to stir up the sediment which has built up in the lower coolant cavity....that something MORE than a passive acid application to get it loosened enough to then ' float it ' or ' flush it ' out of that closed deep cavity will be needed.....

Distilled water give a known solution... Tap water mixed with the coolant has additives that leave sediment in the motor.

Tap has lime, chlorine, floride, and plenty of metals, and other organics...

Distilled has... Water.

Well, I am sticking to my opinion that some kind of PHYSICAL aggravation is what is needed.... and whatever so called ' sediments' which might BE THERE... will be offset by the chemicals in the antifreeze.......

Has anyone seen any indication that MB thought tap water might be a problem ?

But what ever that is not water in tap water is minute and is measured in parts per million. In 2 gallons of tap water, you'll need a microscope to see whatever amount that's settled out. Don't worry- be happy.
