300TD Turbo interchangeability?

I have a 1987 300TD (603.960 engine) with a Garrett turbo that needs to be replaced. Will a VVV turbo listed for the same model wagon match this engine? In other words are the turbos interchangeable.

Thank You in advance for your answer.

VVV? There was a KKK, some 87s were delivered with KKK and others with Garret's. They should be interchangeable. The exhaust manifold and charge pipe are the same on both versions. Oil supply line may or may not be the same, someone else may chime in with better info.

The KKK logo does kind of look like VVV if you are looking at it sideways....

EPC shows two different oil supply and return pipes, I suspect this is depending on whether it is KKK or Garrett. I personally have a KKK. The other set of pipes is grayed out with my VIN for my wagon pulled up in the EPC.

Turbo Interchangeability

I'm sorry, I meant KKK, I had to type in 7 V's for the password I was given and I just kept going with the V's.

Thank you for the replies and assistance. It sounds like the turbos are interchangeable but not the oil supply and return pipes and they would have to be changed. Is that correct?

That is how it looks to me.

Do you have an EPC subscription? Go to epc.startekinfo.com and register.
They ask for a credit card but only to prove you are in the US.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that it was a direct swap. It might have been over on STD....

GARRETT turbos for Mercedes Benz passenger cars and vans - Applications - TurboMaster

Best cross reference I have found for turbos, but it only covers Garrett not KKK-you can look up the Garrett model and google for the KKK version to see.
