Batteries

Having mine charged and tested, but probably buying one.

Naturally oreilly's computer shows something way smaller than what was in the car.

My current battery fits the tray, and has 850 CCA, 1000CA. Does that sound right?

The comparable replacement is $190. They have an optima red top with 910 CCA for $215. Should I do it? Won't it last way longer?

I feel like this is similar to buying cheaper brake pads. Save a little money for something that lasts half the time.

Good grief .... is that what batteries cost out there ?
My battery from O Reilly's cost half that and works fine..and it is about those specs..... if you are OCD... which YOU ARE..... buy two and keep one in the trunk and charge it regularly... carry on passenger side to even the car when you are driving the car....

Lol. Funny thing is my first truck was a 96 tacoma with 600,000 miles. The inner fenders were rusted out and I had the battery on the passenger floor as the leads reached

I've thought about a dual setup. I like to isolate my starting battery so if I leave something on I can still start it.

I'm calling other places. Sears and Walmart.

I'm reading optima quality has gone down hill. Sears is supposed to have the best.

Those specs sound right in the ballpark.

I went to Batteries Plus and spent around $100 for a very serious battery for my truck, 900+ CCA. Duracell brand, been great for over a year.

Check recent reviews before buying an Optima. There's a place near here that sells cosmetic blem Optimas for about the same price that I paid for my Duracell. Things might have changed, but back then there was a reason I chose to get the Duracell instead.

NOT OPTIMA. They can't handle the diesel starting load, coupled with the weak alternators our cars have.

I vote sears 3 year replacement. About $100 near me...

Batteries

Man someone send me a battery. Is that Sears battery 850 CCA? They quoted me $250! California must have a tax.

This optima red top is 910 CCA

The other option at oreillys is 850 CCA. $190.

Everyone's computer is saying 750 CCA.

That sounds more ' right' .... as the HUGE battery for my 5600 Ford diesel tractor battery... about twice the length of our batteries and wider and higher... is only $125 at O Reilly's ....
Must be eco recycling taxes or something out there to double the prices on what he was looking at....

I'm wondering if back in 1970 the battery that fit the tray was 750 CCA. Now a days they can make them smaller?

Decisions decisions. I called around and Walmart has a 750 for $109.

All the off-road guys are saying the Sears battery as well.

Find an Interstate store and get one of their blems for $40. Easily the most bang for you buck battery wise.

Lol. That's a good point. A brisk 65 degrees today. Hopefully they got this thing charged up and I can get out of this one horse town to get one. Or I'll jump it and do some idling.

Napa showed 600cca

Euro guy wasn't home.

With being OCD, it's gonna kill me if it doesn't fit the tray

I bought a blew battery from a place in OKC OK before I moved from there. Worked fine as long as I do e it regularly. Once the alternator started to only charge after 10 minutes of running or longer, I started to have problems. I've not replaced my alt yet so I don't know how this will end. I found a used alt from a Saab 9000 (115 amp) so once that is in, I HOPE the battery will be okay for prolonged sittings. I offer this here to say that I believe most bless are Not cosmetic, but rather do not have the 'normal' life they were expected to have when produced.

FYI
