w124 Throttle Linkage

I had to loosen and move this throttle link to get my #4 GP out. I wanted to know if there is a optimum setting, up down or middle for this bit in other experience. If not, then Ill put it back the way it was.

Also, any suggestions on a good lubricant for the linkage parts-WD40 wont last too long.

Thanks

measurement specs for "Doggie Bones"

Are in the FSM

Along with lube specs

See:

http://www.w124performance.com/service/w124CD1/Program/Engine/602_603/30-1010.pdf

For future use: WD40 is NOT a Lubricant ! It's a P**s Poor SOLVENT !

The Ball and Socket joints must be kept clean and Lubed.

The W124's Sockets are PLASTICO (Plastic) caution must be Observed with the Proper Lubricants for
all PLASTICO parts !

I'm Much more familiar with the Metal socket joints used in the OM617.951 engines.

The FSM in the link above calls for anti-corrosion grease # 000 9898 87 51 10 (Whatever that is ?)

The Old FSM s said to use ATF type lube ? (Metal ball and sockets)

ATF works well, as does Lubriplate as stated.

Yeah Im not coming up with much on what that is either. but I did find this list of MB Multipurpose grease products on the web. Seems NLGI 2 Spec 267 is the stuff.

MB 267.0 - Multipurpose grease (NLGI Class 2, Specification 267.0) - Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Operating Fluids

Thanks for the Lubriplate suggestion I see if thats compatible and local to me.

The Genie Screw Drive Garage Door Opener lubricant is repackaged Lubriplate.

Kind of expensive but convenient for stuff like this and readily found at your local home center.

Universal Garage Door Opener Screw Drive Lubricant-GLU-R at The Home Depot
