Notice - Free 1980 300D in Indianapolis, IN

This guy has been posting on BenzWorld for about a week saying he wants to give away his 300D. It apparently has fueling issues and won't run for longer than a few minutes. Pumping the primer while it's running helps it run longer. He seems to suggest he's tired of trying to fix it.

Whatever the case, he wants it gone and suggests that if someone comes and picks it up it is theirs for free. He's threatening to scrap it. It looks like it's in decent shape, don't let that happen!

For BenzWorld members his user name is afirover

He doesn't list any other contact info. A video of the car giving an idea of the condition:

If he were within a hundred miles of me, well, and if I didn't already have three, I'd go get it. Someone please save it.

That is a decent looking 123, I like that blue. Shame he would send it off to the junk yard.
I would be on it also if it wasn`t 2000 miles away.

It's too far away but I'd be interested in it for a back-up engine for the S-10 so I'm probably the wrong adoptor.

BTW - I noticed in the vid that the LF fender and door have been repainted so if anyone goes to look at it you might want to look for rust or other deterioration in that area. Not saying that "free" isn't a super price, just that there might be something there that needs fixin' before putting it on the road.

Did anyone get this guys name or phone number. My goodness, it is mid winter here in Indynoplace, and parking spots are hard to find, but if I could get that car I surely would find a place for it. Even towing it to the Pull A Part will pay you $4/$500 if you can get it to run at all. Shessham, do it now!

Any idea what could be the cause? Plugged fuel strainer in the tank? Injector pump issues?

Gotta be fuel. The compression doesn't just fade away as the engine runs and I doubt the spark is the issue! I'd start with the easy filters to access then dig into the tank if that doesn't get it. As always, try the simple stuff first.

That's what I am thinking the tank, but first will run through the filters and all the lines. Also thinking it might be the fuel pump, gasket etc, etc, etc,

I haven't heard from him yet so I will keep you posted. He sounds really at the car , hey we all been there but when you stay there GOOD THINKING AND JUDGEMENT GO OUT THE WINDOW.

From STL it would only be 41/2 hrs drive, I have friend there I can stay with and run through the systems.

Im not holding my breath on this one.

Theres a lot of threads on a lot of forums giving this car away, and it seems like connecting with the owner is difficult.
