A few wiring issues

I have a few wiring issues that I think might be related.

No radio, Cig lighter or shifter lights ( have not worked since purchased)

Recently and intermittently working dash and accessory back lights

No power to rear washer pump ( pump is new)

All other lights work including interior, all switches work, anti theft is disabled as is the cruise control.

Recently replaced most of the pertinent fuses, blew fog lights and left low beam recently but most of the fuses were in bad shape.
Any Ideas as to a place to start would be great!

What year/model?

The diagrams for both the 123-based and the 124-based 300TD are online.

I have a 124 300TD and I have owned a 123 (240D).

Post your year/model and we'll go from there.

I recall the radio and shifter lights come off the dimmer switch on the dash cluster. There are posts of how to take it apart and clean. A quickie is to pop out the cluster a bit (push from behind, remove lower cover first) and spray contact cleaner into the rheostat. Worked for me for a while.

I am not getting power to the cig lighter either. I feel it is probably a bad connection that I need to find there is a bit of water damage to the dash.

Id go back to your main fuse block. Replace all the fuses with copper/bronze type. As you do CLEAN each fuse location. Make sure your instrument cluster ground is clean and tight.

Make sure with a meter you have V at the appropriate fuse locations too.

I am finally going to try and fix this and install an aftermarket stereo. I had other thing to fix that were more pressing. But still no power to the shifter lights, cig lighter or stereo. Anyone else have a problem with power to this area of the dash? glove box lights and all other lights work fine.

The shifter light is on the illumination circuit. Are you sure the bulb is good assuming all your other dash lights work?

Cig lighter and radio share the same fuse. On the 123s they supplied the electronic Becker 612 as an upgrade. The standard analog 599 just got power and ground from the cig lighter socket. The 612 has a second connector with unswitched battery and illumination.

I am going to open it all up this afternoon, no I dont know if the bulb is good but the every thing else on that circuit doesn't work, no radio, no cig lighter no shifter lights... so I am going to assume there is a missed connection some where in there... any ideas where the issue might be, I will start by looking at the connection at the dash instrument cluster then trace everything to the center console. Thing else I should investigate?
