I call that syndrome, a brain fart...

yeah, belt loops used to wear out quickly, but now I buy 9.99 jeans from wallyworld, and the knees and general feel of the pants quit before the pockets and loops fail.

In many jurisdictions, you will be charged if you facilitated having your vehicle stolen by leaving the keys in it. Usually this happens not from private residences, but when zipping in to buy cigarettes or other consumables at a convenience store.

Generally that means that if you get charged in a case where the car is stolen and causes damage (or is itself damage), you can probably expect the post-incident insurance premiums to be about 2x-3x what you paid previously.

I would not want to be on the hook for something someone did with my vehicle. A police sergeant lost his life in Toronto because a schizophrenic street person escaped from a shelter and stole a diesel plow truck that had been left idling outside a coffee shop. After causing huge property damage over several square miles with the plow, including backing through a new car showroom, the individual ran down the police officer and the plow crushed his skull.

Try to imagine the guilt that plow driver is going to carry with him for the rest of his days.

Oh John... Maybe I should look there. Only pair of elastic jeans (belts cut into my back and hurt) the thighs are thread bare and letting in the cold. Love Lee Jeans, but now times are lean...

Glad you found them!

Not long ago I locked my keys inside my still-running truck. Made a second set and then lost the second set!

This is disgusting to me. A car gets stolen, lets punish the person who DIDN'T do it.

Keys are in it. I challenge any punk kid to even get it in gear. Driving a POS has its advantages.

I keep a spare set for the truck attached to a magnet under the truck. All other daily keys are either on me or on the bedroom dresser. The only time I leave the keys in the car is when I am working on it or pumping fuel. When pumping fuel I don't even shut the car or truck off if it is a Diesel.

I would ask wife #2 where my keys were. She'd look down her shirt and proclaim "they're not in here".

I knew I was in trouble when she stopped letting me see for myself.

this rule is different everywhere

some states the rule is you cant leave a car running on the street, others "unattended", which is a loose definition.

For example, if my car is running while I dig it out of snow, im not in it, but its attended.

Realistically, who enforces this law consistently?

I worked part time for years at a valet lot where up to 10 cars at a time were left running waiting for customers to get off the bus from the airport. Biggest draw to the business was this service of letting the car warm up while the customer was returning in the winter.

The technicality here is that "attended" was interpreted as employees in the office or around the property (closed lot) typically 2 or 3 guys on 5 acres. Plenty of state and police officials used the service for flying, a lot of cops came back to find their unmarked or state cars running and were happy about it.

The owner has been in business for 2 decades, and could be claimed to be flagrantly violating this law, but its a non issue

my car is attended when running even though I might not be inside

the dual-zone alarm keeps potential intruders away

Lol

Will they sinc their barks in a dual alarm fashion? Big bark little bark big bark little bark.

I think if someone steals stuff out of your unlocked car it's not even considered theft and insurance won't cover it.

I didn't mention I'm on a ranch. If someone comes looking, I would rather they take the car and not bother me. Same results, just no gun pointed at me.

I'm in liberal california. Years ago a guy broke into the bicycle shop and was crawling through the AC duct with a flashlight in his mouth. It broke and fell and he died choking on the flashlight. His family sued and won for the ducting not be properly installed.

There is a story in our morning paper today about a drug smuggler and his slimy lawyer who is suing the federal government because the police dog bit him on the arm during his capture. I really wish I could be on that jury.

No wonder that our country is going down the drain.
No one takes responsebillity for their actions anymore.

Why hold those who do dumb, illigal and dangerous things
responsible for their actions when you can dump it on someone else.
Sad part is that our justice system allows it too.

Our polulation is becoming more and more insensitive, careless,
remorseless and lacking a sense of responsibility.

Case in point.
People getting shot for no reason, getting robbed and killed for
pocket change. getting robbed for a phone.

It has even come to the point where you have to be
careful when honking at someone(for doing something stupid,
parking their car in the middle of the road even if there is a space
at the curb) coz they might pull a gun and shoot you.

Poor us.

Louis
