79 300SD - non-turbo crankcase vent setup?
So I'm a bit confused about my cars blowby ventilation setup. It seems that it's configured in what most consider the old non-turbo om617, in which a 3 part elbow hose goes from crankcase cover to bottom of the air filter housing, and also dumps into the lower end of the "U" pipe from air filter housing to turbo inlet.
If possible I'd like to convert it to the "proper" setup. Is this possible without serious modification? |

Yours is the stock setup for that year as far as I'm aware. Its fine the way it is. In fact, I like the design of this setup better as it will keep the oil from saturating your air filter the way the other set up does.

As stated in the previous Post. You will not have the little nipple between the Turbo Drain and the Block that is needed for the Breather Drain Tube on the other Models.

I am only chiming in to confirm that I actually owned a '79 300sd and yes, that is the stock setup for that model and year.
