The hazet wrenches have a very tight fit on the nuts. Maybe the nuts just get fatter over time but I never did like tapping the wrenches onto the nuts with a hammer and couldn't bring myself to grind the wrenches wider.

Peterac check your PM!

That is not so on My Year and model. Perhaps some one was heavy handed when the tightened the Nut and deformed them a little.
I also have a set of Hyco Mercedes Valve Wrenches and they are not tight on the Nuts either.

Still, they have the MB star and part number on them, and they have the clip... I'm stoked.
I'll post pics of my homemade set tomorrow.
They have a good resale value.

Thanks Gentlemen

I think I have sourced one privately, will have to wait for the wrench to come Downunder from the States, 2 weeks. Everyone has been very helpful and I am grateful to you all.

Regards and Merry Christmas

Peter

Here's my homemade one, using a Craftsman 30mm socket... I haven't used it yet, so I don't know how practical it is yet.

That looks nice, but you didn't reinforce the top of the socket. You will only have minimal torque with that socket before the socket opens up and slips.
Especially with a craftsman socket. The annealed soft metal they stamp them from is tricky. (I work in the Danahur plant sometimes)

I didn't think there was much torque put on it? That you just need it there to hold it steady?

I may have him reinforce it.

The sort of hood over the top of the original wrenches is there so the wrench does not slide down the Spring. In the Manual it just shows the Wrench perched on the Vavle Spring Retainer with the Sheetmetal part resting on the Head and no hands. In order for the no hands the hood has to hold the Wrench on top of the Spring retainer and keep it from sliding down.

If you use the 3rd Wrench held by one hand and a 14mm to loosen the stuck Nut or Nuts with the other hand you don't need to worry about that hood.

Unless the nut is seriously tight and or the clearance is severe and face damage has occured.
