I'd like to see some proof that there was ever any difference in ride height in the 126. I don't believe there was any difference between US and USA ride height.

They look great on a BMW....a 126? not so much...for me anyhow. I'd buy the car though and sell them off as they seem to be very popular.

Shoot, if i had a w126 even in the neighborhood of that nice i would probably become a wheel collector and change 'em out with my mood. I'm already holding on to a set of 5 holes and waiting 'til i finish another project in order to look for a nice w126 to put them on. -cheers

Well I did finally upgrade wheels. Lorniser RS90s like the ones on the 560SEC Patrick Swayze drove in the movie Roadhouse. I've the high mark so far on my ownership of the 300sd. 100% mechanically, and as clean possible. It is going to be shown for the first time at German Car Club of Kansas show next Saturday. I plan on putting a copy of the window sticker in the car along with the original temporary permit and all the new car hang tags, have a binder with all the records and documentation as well as the literature, like the vintage Mercedes parts catalog with the Lorinser wheels and accessories. Should be fun.

I got my files organized for my "Treasure Trove in the Trunk" display. I've divided all of my documentation into two binders.

The first binder tells the story of someone new to the brand at the time, deciding whether to buy a Cadillac or Mercedes. I took apart a 1984 Mercedes brochure to focus on the 300SD. I would like to buy a 1984 Cadillac brochure and do this as well. Once they settled on Mercedes, it shows the decision they made to take European delivery or buy local, as well as settling on a color combo. Then shows all the purchase documents like the window sticker, delivery inspection and temporary tag, followed by the introduction into the Mercedes club, and a vintage parts catalog. The cool thing about the catalog is everything I have done to the car so far is available to order in there. Coco Mats, Lorinser RS90s, and European headlights with prices.

The second binder is the service history, a complete stamped maintenance booklet and all receipts from new. Fills a 3" binder and totals up to over $28000.00! Yup, twenty-eight grand to fastidiously maintain this car for over 32 years. If you counted warranty repairs it would top 30k.

I'm also displaying some of the cool older magazines and brochures that came with the car, as well as my Ken Dallison First Century of Mercedes book turned to my favorite page, a 126 and 107 in front of the Monte Carlo casino.

I'd of dropped that thing by now. They look odd jacked so high in the air anyway. Don't know why yours looks so jacked - but it does. JimB's 560SEC slammed-height looks just about right.

The green looks much better in-person vs the photos. I'd lose that ugly Cyclops eye in the rear window if possible. Man, they look cheesy before they figured out how to make 'em blend with the cars. Took 'em a few years to figure that out.

Love to find an 83 300SD leather interior/sunroof - nearly like mine again, but not with "300K" on it's clock as mine had. Sweet, sweet turbodiesels. With terrific, glassy paint finishes w/o the dreaded orange peel of the late 90s on forward.

The show was fun but I did not win award. It was a VW crowd and second and third place were taken by a rusty 123 240D auto with a sparkle paint roof, slammed, and other tasteless mods (stuff Beetle guys would like). Second went to a scruffy looking 450SL because the owner (female) was hot and friendly. First went to a very much deserved 500E. Food trucks catered the event with Brauts and Bierocks. It was a great day.

Last week I took the chastity belt of the virgin alda. The car was sluggish when cold and needed full throttle to give good acceleration. The banjo bolt and lines were clean. 1/2 a turn helped, one full turn woke the car up. I don't want the car belching smoke when I romp on it so I kept it there.

I did not like the Lorinser RS90s on the 300SD. The chrome wasn't doing it for me, nor was the harsher ride. As luck would have it my dream wheels popped up for sale at a good price. 16" lorinser LOs. I don't thing there's a better wheel for a 126. So happy with the car now, being back to the stock road feel with everything dialed in.

GREAT pictures ! thanx .

I don't know what the problem is with the current crop of VW guys , they're also world class thieves and liars , after 40 years of VW love they drove me away , I'll never go back .

Your car looks so nice from any angle ! .

Those wheels look nice! Whats up with the two door ponton? Looks like a very desireable car which has been Freuked up to the hilt!
