Strange tapping in cabin
I've started hearing this intermittent low tapping since last month, hot or cold engine. It's more audible from inside the cabin. It comes with sort of a follow through when turning the engine off. It seems to be originating from the front of the car, behind the dash. it's barely audible outside even with the hood popped open. 2 engine mounts are new. The car is an '89 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel, only 60k miles.
please try to listen to the recordings here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/715415921906579/ Has anyone heard the same?

It's your switchover valve for the AC. Located next to glove box.

Most forum members described the noise as, that awful clicking noise. All the 190's got it after a period, and they claimed it to be the potientometer, and it lays under dash center area. You have to remove the whole dash to get to it. There is some linkage that is involved there. While the dash is out it is wise to go ahead and renew the pods that are defective under there, as well. Usually, the vents won't shut-off the air flow etc. You have to manually close the vents at this point.

thanks guys! so it's either potentiometer, or switchover valve.. or are they the same thing? I actually got the sound after I had the A/C cleaned.
You guys are awesome. I wasn't really expecting to get an answer by posting mere recording, I just thought I should at least try
