Proper Application of Smoke (humor)

So this Sunday morning I was messing around in the garage straightening things up and came across the 13+ quarts of lube oil from the last oil change in the Benzos. I did what I always do, dumped it into the tank on the wagon to burn it as fuel.

Fast forward to after dinner in San Antonio Sunday evening...I'm taking Thing Two back to her dorm and this dip***** in a SUV with those irritating projector lights is tailgating the you-know-what out of me. I mean really close all the way down Commerce and onto Hildebrand. After we left the restaurant we hadn't been driving all that fast, in fact, I don't think I'd revved over 2000 rpm for several blocks. When the light at 281 turns green, I sedately take off and let Mr. SUV crowd up behind me.

What Ol' Mr. SUV doesn't know is that I've selected the notorious "S for soot" setting on the Benz' transmission. When the light changed, I accelerated, letting the revs climb up well past 3500 which effectively removed all the accumulated soot, depositing it right into Mr. Tailgating-projector light-SUVs face.

Inky is how I'd describe that particular cloud. Oh, and remember that lube oil I put in the tank? It runs fine as fuel but it smells, well, like burning engine oil. Eine nette Überraschung für Sie Ar*chloch!

I really must fix this defect on my 300SD, it does not smoke.
Would have been nice for the Honda trunk ornament this morning, could not see his head lights until he passed me.
Oh, to be able to SMOKE fools like that.

I began to fool around with my 300SD and installed a boost controller. I since turned up the ALDA and now she blows a little more smoke. I love gettin on the highway or when someone tailgates....

I run the old 300D on Veg-oil, and after a week or so of commuting, quite a bit of "barbeque soot" builds up

Its great to blow this into the face of an annoying gimboid on a bike or some shiny new eurobox, whose been tailgateing for a while!--Guess it makes them feel hungry too.....

Running a Diesel must rate pretty high in the list of best things to do with your clothes on!

Are there any drawbacks to using your used motor oil as fuel? Shouldn't you filter it first?

What is the environmental impact of doing this versus having it recycled?

Well, before I drain it into a REALLY clean container, I figure that it's already been filtered purdy doggone well in the engine by Mr. Hecht.

Recycling simply means that the waste oil gets sold to asphalt plants that use the waste oil as a fuel source. There, it is burned at a relatively low temperature, in a relatively uncontrolled manner. At least in my diesel, I get some use out of it and there are some environmental controls in place.

does putting used engine oil through the car's fuel system have any effect on the fuel filters?

must make the fuel a little darker looking?

They're completely opaque for a few tanks after running the lube oil.

so, ok i think i get it.. but does the used oil ruin the filter or does it clear after you run a few tanks of pure diesel through later? ie. you don't have to replace it..

Sorry, I didn't get the drift of your original question. No, it hasn't harmed/clogged the filters so far. It shouldn't because the engine lube oil filter is something like 5microns. The primary fuel filter is supposedly 10 microns and the spin-on is 5...nothing big is getting in there.

IDI engines will definitely burn the stuff...in fact, I cannot detect any difference in performance when running on engine oil. I've run it both neat and diluted by an almost full tank of diesel.

FWIW, Cummins diesels equipped with Sentinel systems have a metering system that introduces lube oil into the fuel at a specific rate to burn the oil and eliminate oil changes. Instead of draining oil, they burn it, and adding oil and changing filters at a specific intervals.

Many years ago I had a full sized '80s Blazer with 6.2L diesel. Dual exhaust with pipes that pointed straight out from the sides behind the rear wheels. With the 32 inch tires on it, the pipes were just about the height of the windows of the local lowered ricers. I could completely fill the cabin of a Honda with just one stab at the throttle. Was also pretty good for discouraging dogs that wanted to chase the truck.

Seriously this is a good thing? and can a 617 run on clean new motor oil?
