Water pump housing broken bolt repair fixture

I had a fixture made for drilling out the broken stubs in the water pump housing for the OM616/617. The fixture is made from an old water pump, with drill bushings welded in. The fixture is held on with 3 bolts. The washers hold the fixture above the stubs.

The fixture, housing with 2 broken bolts, washers, bolts and the drill bit:

The fixture mounted and ready to drill:

Side view:

I still need to get the proper tap. I have several that I need to do, so I will let you all know how it goes.....Rich

Quite cool!
Useful tool!
Since you are doing a lot of these, have you thought about making copies of the tool for sale?

Are you going to use left hand drill bits ?
Left hand taps...?
then left hand bolts to take out the broken off bolt ?

I should try a left hand drill (3/16), as that is the size the drill bushings are made from.

No, but I have thought about providing the repair service to the users here. I also have several extra good housings that I could offer on an exchange basis for housings that need repair (for a small fee of course).....Rich

The left hand drill bit is often magical...
but if you want to be better positioned if that does not work...
then you need to base your drill bit size on the proper size to match the tap you are going to use.....

Can you tell me length of the housing to block bolts and the waterpump to housing bolts. Hope I'm not hijacking the thread. Am changing my pump and I have an assortment of various bolts and one missing. Thanks. Oh, do any use washers?

The machinist that made the fixture put 3/16 drill bushings in, and that is very close to the tap drill size for 6mm.
