power windows w123
I am wanting to replace the door to cabin wiring boots. I was thinking of lubing the electric window mechanisms while I had the door panels removed. My question is does anyone have suggestions on what type of lube or grease, that is used for them? Thanks!!

I'd prolly use white silicone.

I repaired my rear window regulators on my 300CD. These are very sensitive to lube (will bend if not treated right). I used Dow molykote 33 low temp grease.

I have an issue with the driver's door window. Since purchase it makes a clumping sound at a point in rolling it up. There was another person on the forum, that expressed the same problem in a post(some time ago). I never did know what the problem was, and didn't find the post since. Has anyone had this problem? If I just go in spurts rolling the window up it do not seem to do this or as much. I am not for sure what is meant by regulator?

in my case it was rubber holder and rubber itself which was deteriorated I had to pull everything out and weld a holder (see pic) as it had crack and new rubber which holds window glass. . |
In my car, the window operated correctly in all ways but wasn't perfect. It turned out one of the stops was flipped over.

Can't remember the name, but....
Seems to me I got mine at NAPA, it's nothing magical, just a lightweight grease.
DO MAKE SURE your bolts are tight!! Check 'em all! I had a window go down but it wouldn't go back up because one of the bolts fell off the assembly. Turned into a BIG problem for me. While you have the door panels off, check them for tightness. |
