Broken Fuel Line Clips
1997 E300D I broke two of the white horseshoe clips for the fuel lines while changing o-rings to viton. Is there a substitute I can use without buying all new lines. They both broke in half right down the center. Any ideas

I have used zip ties, and they work pretty good. Definitely not as good as the factory part, but will get you by until new clips can be procured.

Rollguy, not exactly sure how i would do that, would i have to cut them down to about a 1/8" to get them into the clip groves?

If I could get a photo I would, but not possible too soon. It is pretty easy, as the slot that normally holds the clip is actually wide enough to handle 2 zip ties side by side. It is a little challenging to weave the ties thruogh the slots, but thin needle nose pliers help.

Small things department, the clips are only used to remove the fuel lines. When installed they are retracted and flop around.
As long as they are sealed up now, I'd forget them for at least 5 years with new Viton orings installed. When the orings begin to leak, buy new lines then. |
Rollguy, Terry thanks so much for the information. Its good to know.
