Wow, well at least you found the problem. I had the same, "broken spring" problem with my 85TD a couple years ago. Someone will know which disc, I've only have experience with the W123s.

Sounds like you have the right tool to push that brake fluid UP through the system. I was thinking a grease gun (new) would work pretty good too. One guy here used giant veterinary syringe.

This is what I used to push the brake fluid except I purchased at my local WalMart for $3.87 or there abouts.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime you just might find you get what you need.

I had that brake caliper to clutch slave method figured out pretty good involving two different size hoses hooked together to accommodate the different size bleed nipples attached with tiny hose clamps, (after several brake fluid showers) teflon on the threads, pumping the brake just right, crawling under the car multiple times opening and closing bleeders all and all a real pain in the butt then someone here came up with the pump method and I've never looked back.

When my spring broke I had no clutch immediately as the piece got lodged in the fork, had to have the car towed.
