W126 SD dash fits W126 SDL?

I found a reportedly mint condition blue dash from an 86 SD on an out of state craigslist ad. Can anyone attest to whether it would be a straight swap for my 86 SDL?

Thank you,

Paul

There's so such thing as an 86 SD. W126 dashes should all swap. Keep in mind that early build 1981 models had the CC sensor in the dash, so consider that if you look at another dash.

I am not doubting you, but please educate me (and/or us) on this. I have a '91 W126, so I would assume they made the W126 chassis from '81 (first year in America) to at least '91.

Are you saying that there were no W126's made between 1986 & 1989?
Was 1991 the last year for a W126?

No they are not saying that. There were no short wheelbase SD's in those years. Just the long wheelbase SDL's in '86 and '87. 1988 and 1989 had no diesels.

Yes 1991 was the last year for the w126.

Thank you, that clears it up for me. I kinda wondered why I have only heard of SDL's and SEL's for '91. Was there a Diesel in any chassis in '88 or '89?

Yes, if it's listed as an 86 model the dash should work. It might be listed by someone who doesn't know the difference between an SD and an SDL.

If you don't buy this will you send me a link, I'd like to find one.

It will be a direct swap as long as the temp sensor and glove box/air bag are the same.
