rear Window Regulator(s)

I need new regulators on my 87 wagon, left is dead and the right's plastic clip broke.

Im looking on fleabay at what appear to be relatively cheap ($75) pair of regulators. I cant seem to get a straight answer from the seller(yes 1st flag) as to compatibility.

Were the rear regulators pretty much the same in the W124s or are the ones for mine a one-of-a-kind thing.

Here is the listing if someone doesnt mind looking.

Rear Door Power Window Regulators w Motors Left Right Pair Set for W124 | eBay

You can get the plastic clip for about $4, either here or if they don't have it, at the dealer.

Yes for the front, but not the rear. Need to to buy the whole assembly and since I would like to fix both, hence the question.

Id be open to a DIY fix on the broken clip, but have only found one thread here which seemed pretty cloodgy.

Fitment?

Wow 3 pages of cars listed in the upper section and didn't see an '87 300TD listed. But did I see it in the lower section under Detailed Applications? If so I think you've got your part.

I think I got it

I don't subscribe to Startek, but used the mb-part website (Atlanta). Short answer it should fit as this regulator type is spec'd for: 300 D TURBODIESEL USA 86-87, 300 E 2.6 USA 87-92, 300 E USA 86-06, 300 TD TURBODIESEL USA 87-87, 300 TE USA 88-92.

Yes, I did look through the three pages on the fleabay listing and saw my car shown on the last one, then double checked with seller via email. Thats where things went wonky, their answer was NO it wont fit. So I asked here.

In hindsight, I guess I should have phrased my question thusly: "Can someone with an EPC cross check to see if part #s 1247300346 and 1247300446 fit an 87 300TDT?"

The plastic sliding jaw assembly is available for $10 or so, but IIRC it is listed in EPC as only compatible for later model gasser sedans, either front or rear.

The part has two main components: the plastic part (which is normally what breaks) and the metal part. They are connected with a rivet.

You can drill out the rivet of the new part, do same with your old part, and mate up the new plastic with your old metal, using a short bolt 6mm in diameter (10mm wrench fits the hex head).

I've done this repair for front and rear windows on my '95 sedan.

I cant seem to find what you all speak of and that looks like the part I need. I do see clips that are described as universal for front and back, but again not like the photo I posted. Perhaps its NLA. Anyway, I ordered the two regulators and I will see if all works well, sort of cant loose at that price.

I have used ebay chicom rear window regulators with motors twice on my 124 and they have worked and fit and lasted just fine. If you get one out of a junkyard it will be just as crispy old as the one you are replacing. So, no on that.

They're in

Yes, chicom is right. They came Friday and I finshed up this morning. No real big issues to report, fitment ok with some very minor adjustment, windows go up and down so I'm happy. Only thing I had to really do was re-use the black and green leads from the door switch and splice them onto the leads from the new motors. Greased up the cable and rail as they didnt seem to have any.

Finishing up this morning was a bear in an unheated 6F garage....Brrrr.
