Oil Pan Heater, not MB, Banana Pan Oil Heater

I was reading the current running Dip Stick heater thread,

Adventures with dipstick warmer

and clicked on a link Funola linked to, and then came across this
Oil Pan with the heater and a temp sensor.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O4FQCDQ?psc=1

It is for a Duramax, but thought it was a cool idea the way it is made, but no way
Iam not paying $449.00 for one. It does look to be cast aluminum, and they do need to recoup their investment.
Wonder how many Duramax guys will pay that for one?

The MB lower pan could be modified by some creative person with a TIG Welder to accept this type of heating element with a thermostat.

Wadayathnk?

I have a 400 and a 200 watt Kats magnetic pan heater, but it is a pain to crawl under the car to R&R them, especially if there is snow etc...to lay on.

Lately I have used these on the 86 F250 6.9, then felt the pan in the morning to see how warm the pan was.
I guess it warmed it some, didn`t detect the pan being all that warm. But the element will burn ya.

Why not something really simple like this?

Amazon.com: Kat's 24150 150 Watt 4"x 5" Universal Hot Pad Heater: Automotive
