We may be talking about 2 different shrouds. I'm referring to the inner (engine side) shroud for the radiator fan. You may be referring to the shroud surrounding the electric aux fans up front. ??

Or maybe, you're right. Someone modified mine before I got it. But mine is super easy.

Progress

The body shop got the body straightened, the fenders hung, and the hood mounted and aligned. They needed headlights to make sure everything is straight, so I borrowed a set from a friend. I am hoping they will get the car in the paint shop soon.....Rich

Glad to see you're getting the SDL put back together. Some years back, my SDL got hit in a similar situation while I was heading down the I-5 by where it merges onto the 60. The fellow that hit me didn't have insurance or a valid DL. My SDL got totaled by the insurance Co. but fortunately CA has uninsured driver's coverage, so I did get some money. IIRC, it was around $3k. At the time I was on crutches following ACL recon surgery, or else I would've done much of the work like you (except for straightening the frame). In total it cost me a bit over $4k to bring it back together from a decent body shop, so I was out of pocket maybe $1k. Worth it to me though, since you cannot find a clean SDL for under $6k. Good luck Rich.

I got a nice set of headlights from a forum member the other day. I just need the condenser fan shroud, and I will have all I need to put the car back together. I am hoping to get it this week (they said it would be ready). However, they are having a little trouble with the fitment of the filler below the headlight. They were working on it today when I checked on them. If anyone has a line on a condenser fan shroud, please let me know. Thanks, Rich

Possible part number

This may be the part number your looking for. A 126 505 23 55 My car doesn't have one installed. Must have been taken off by the PO.

I saw that yesterday. Two of those are dealers, and the other was sort of a dead end.

EDIT: actually, ECS is $73 delivered. I would drive to my local MB dealer (not very local, but 45 miles away) before paying that price. I have a local Euro repair shop that can order parts for me, and usually gives me a good deal.

Progress- slow, but progress nonetheless

I went to the body shop today to check on the car, and they are going very slow. However, it is ready for body work (just a few dings in the hood) and paint. Everything is pulled, straightened and/or replaced. I am hoping they continue work on it soon, as I an getting anxious to get it back so I can put it back together. Although I am unhappy about the time it is taking, I am very pleased with the quality of the work. I have seen some of his finished products, and they are outstanding!

It does indeed look very promising. I can hardly wait for the "done" pictures

Body work being done!

I went to the shop today to pick up all the parts that are not needed (trunk was full of the broken/removed parts). I will be cleaning the parts and getting them ready for assembly when the paint work is done. They are doing the prep work, and may be ready for paint on Monday.
