Still haven't picked up that software.
Getting a P0670 code - glow plug relay fault. Consensus is to replace the relay. Should be easy and cheapish Also picked up a power Blake bleeder (motive products With the aluminum fittings) to bleed the brakes this fall to keep the fluid fresh. Wish I had bought a few gallons of the ATE super blue fluid before it was outlawed |

check the ground wire for the glow plug relay, its grounded on the intake between the valve cover and intake you'll see it if you look straight down on top of the motor with the covers off. i have seen about 3 cdi's with loose ground points and they throw and gp relay code. the gp relay is directly above the starter.

So I haven't done much lately other than an oil change and add washer fluid. I did discover the trunk third brake light is allowing water in so I need to source a new gasket for it or get creative.
I'm still getting a low fuel rail pressure code every now and then. I really need to order the molded hose that I put a non molded hose I'm place since the originals end was cracked and I couldn't salvage it. I hope doing that will resolve the issue. Also noticed the headliner above the left rear passenger seat is drooping. Aaaaaand I still need to remove the clear vinyl bra and polish the passenger side headlights. |

I decided to get rid of the car. I sold it off and picked up a nicely maintained Honda Element.
I'm down to one diesel Mercedes. |

What made you decide to get rid of it? Too many problems? What would you do if you were to buy another?

Ha ha!! You said it. I have been researching the 05-06 CDI in order to make a pre-purchase decision... and I think I just found the definitive answer Like TheDon, I already have a classic Mbz diesel (1984 300D) and like it very much, so it looks like the smart play is: try to stop lusting after a cdi

It's a mechanical cousin of the Civic and CR-V. Pretty darn near bulletproof cars and dead simple to work on.
Except changing the oil. The spin on oil filter is mounted horizontally on the back side of the block right above the exhaust. So not only do you have to avoid burning your arm from the hot exhaust, but also the hot oil that invariably gushes down your arm while removing the filter.

How about let us in on why you did that? Hope you didn't lose $ on the CDI. One thing you'll like: the Element has a timing chain instead of a belt. I am sure it will be a lot cheaper to maintain than a CDI.
