Can I reuse the old nut, should I locate a new one that is the old style? or should i gob a pile of red locktite on the new nut and torque it down?

Thanks!
Where did you get that nut?

It come with the axle? If so, I'd toss it, and go to a dealer and get the correct nut.
Or order them from our site... http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/pel_search_2014.cgi?SUPERCAT_FLAG=Y&make=MBZ&Context_make=&please_wait=N&LastVisited_input=3307&Previous_Section=&forumid=&threadid=&command=DWsearch&description=Axle+nut&I1.x=0&I1.y=0

FSM says you can re-use that nut.

FSM also says that the "plain washers" which are the two plats (three bolt holes in each plate) at the differential end need to be replaced (they are single use) as are the six bolts.

The new nut came with the axle which I ordered from this site, it was the only option for axles for my car listed on here. I figured I'd rather buy from here than end up with the wrong stuff.

And maxbumpo, I put the other end with the 3 hole flat plates back on already, I wonder why the fsm says not to reuse them, it's just a piece of flat steel. Mine were undamaged and looked like new really.

I'll be getting into this tomorrow probably if its nice outside, the old not came right off easily and the threads are perfect, so I may just reuse it if the fsm says it's OK I guess.

Heres some pictures of my axle, this is the drivers side that actually broke, I'm pulling the other side and replacing before I drive the car again.
